Nothing is better than spending the afternoon browsing new nail art ideas, and with Spring trends arriving on the scene- the topic of nails has become even more enticing. We’ve picked out our seven favorite spring nail art trends to share with you today, and, we have laid out instructions for you on how to achieve them!

So, we won’t keep you waiting any longer- here are our top seven nail trends that we can’t wait to see this spring:

Popsicle Ombre

Just like the Firecracker Jr. popsicle you enjoyed on a hot summer’s day as a kid, you can now enjoy its beautiful design on your nails.

How to: Similar to it’s cousin “Ombre”, this nail trend consists of blending three muted colors together for a hazy faded effect. However, instead of mixing these colors together seamlessly, allow your shades their own space to shine. The only blending you will have to do to achieve this look is mixing together the edges where the different colors come into contact.

Foil Flecks

It seems that there are small hints of foil effects when it comes to nail trends this spring.

How to: Add a little bit of luminescence to your nails with nail art foil by carefully placing just a few flecks onto your desired base color. This look has been seen to grace the bottom of your nail bed, instead of the whole nail; it’s supposed to be more of an accent rather than an entire design.

Primary French Tips

Say goodbye to your regular white french tips, and hello to good old primary colors! If you’re missing the simple days of being a kid, this trend will certainly allow you to reconnect to your Pre-K roots.

How to: If you know how to give yourself a french tip manicure, you’ll be able to reproduce the look of this trend… just swap out the white for your favorite primary shade! Better yet, come into Merle Norman today and we’ll treat the tips of your nails to these vibrant colors for you.

Ornate Outlines

This trend has popped up over the years a few times, but it hasn’t been replicated as much as it is now. In fact, nail art enthusiasts are getting even more creative by outlining the shape of their nails with different colors, textures, and thickness!

How to: This effect is best painted on using a striper nail art polish that will allow you more control when painting your lines. The easiest way to start off is by picking a lighter, more neutral base color and then adorning it with beautifully colored outlines.

Minimal Mani

Tired of spending all your time painting three coats on each nail? Why not opt for painting just two (on both hands, of course)?

How to: As simple as is sounds, pick two nails on each hand (preferably side by side) and paint them your color of choice. We’ve seen a lot of matte nail polish used in this trend, but it’s up to you what you choose! Not only will this save you time, but now you have a few bare nails to perform your daily tasks with, without ruining the polish on the other fingers.

Clear Glitter

Did you know that you don’t always need a base coat for glitter polish to shine? Keeping on trend with the minimal movement, using sparkles without the base color is a trend to look out for this spring.

How to: Lightly paint a coat of glitter over your nail and then seal with a clear top coat. Try not to over glitterize as this would be counter-productive to the minimalist effect.

In the Middle

We all know that stripes can be drawn horizontally, vertically, and diagonally… but lately, we’ve been seeing them smack dab in the middle of the nail.

How to: Decide your base color and the color you wish to draw your stripes on with. Paint your nails with your base and let them dry before decorating them with this horizontal pattern. Then, stripe your nails in a pattern of three entering the stripes in the middle. Also, feel free to try out different thicknesses for different looks.
